A business may sponsor someone for this visa if they are not being able to find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to work.

Australia Skilled–Nominated (Sub-class 190) Visa—Key Requirements & Obligations

For many skilled workers, immigrating to Australia, famous as the ‘Land of Milk and Honey’, is the top priority as the country offers endless opportunities to skilled workers from every corner of the world. In the hope of better job opportunities, 100s of 1000s of trained employees move to developed countries, and among all it seems Down Under has become the most favourite.

As per some reports, approximately 1/4^th of the total population of the nation consists of immigrants, which means the nation is diverse and ethnic by nature.

Skilled–Nominated (Sub-class 190) Visa--How to Apply?

If you meet the skill shortage in a specified state or territory, you will be nominated and will be required to lodge an Expression of Interest (EoI) using SkillSelect and will be invited by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) to claim Permanent Residency (PR).

Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you will have maximum 60 days to lodge your visa application online. Beyond the period, the invitation will automatically lapse. Thus, it is important that you have all the required documents to lodge your visa application as soon your receive an ITA.

Key Requirements

• You must be practicing in an occupation that is listed on the Australian Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL).
• Submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) and be invited to lodge an application.
• Duly nominated by the territorial or state government.
• Score at least 60 points in the skilled migration point test.
• At the time of submitting the application, you should be between 19 and 49 years of age.
• You must have a positive assessment done by the authorized authority.
• Be fluent in English language and should hold a good character and a health certificate.

Initially, the DIBP will issue a visa for five years and to maintain the status you are required to live and work in Oz for at least two years out of five. And, if you have lived and worked in the country for four consecutive years, you will become eligible for Australian Citizenship.

Key Obligations

When you are living in ‘Oz’ with the Skilled Nominated (Sub-class 190) Visa you are required to follow following obligations:

• Live and work in the specified state or territory for at least two years out of five.
• Inform the state or territory government when you change your place of abode.
• Participate in surveys and provide information as and when required.
